The Queen of South African House music Busiswa, is back with her highly anticipated sophomore album “Summer Life”. Just a year after dropping her first album “Highly Flavoured” Busiswa has been making waves across the African continent and the world. The talented poet, singer and songwriter has cemented her name in the House Genre as one not only to be heard but respected. Her brand new album oozes maturity and a deeper understanding of her sound, her market and beyond. Dance music has taken a deep fusion into the Qhom sound, we hear more and more of dance music making use of “Qhom” beats to stay current with what is hot in the streets.
With the “Summer Life” album, Busiswa has decided to do just that. The album has a heavy Qhom influence that has you moving your body from track one. Her powerful vocals combined with her witty lyrical content bring it all together to make for a perfect summer album. Working on an album often requires well-calculated features that bring the project together. It is easy for an artist to choose to feature another artist because of their commercial pull over their musicality. This often results in a lot of music not doing well because it is not produced organically. This, however, is not the case with “Summer Life” project, Busiswa makes use of heavyweight producers and vocalists because they truly compliment her style. We see the return of Uhuru and hear features from the likes of Rude Boyz, Dladla Mshunqisi and DJ Buckz. The features all sound unforced, they were having genuine fun in studio and you can hear it in the music.
